Viliame Sevaka Mata (born 22 October 1991) is a Fijian union rugby player. He currently plays for Scotland situated Guinness Pro14 side Edinburgh Rugby. His debut was made with Fiji during the 2014 Wellington Sevens.

In December of 2017 the player signed an extension that will keep him in Edinburgh Rugby until 2020. In the final week in the current season of 2018/19 Pro14 year, Mata was named the Guinness PRO14 the Players’ Player of the Season.

Mata was part of the final Fiji team to compete in this year’s Summer Olympics.

Mata was raised and born in Nauluvatau which is a tiny village located in Nakelo, Tailevu and was chosen from Ben Ryan to represent the Fiji sevens team at this year’s Wellington Sevens as a replacement for Pio Tuwai.

In July, Mata signed for Pro12 team Edinburgh for two years. He joined the team following the help that he provided to Fiji achieve Gold during the Olympics but his visa was revoked one year later, because he was not internationally capped by Fiji as visas issued to players who were not recognized in Kolpak countries were valid for a year. Therefore, he needed to go back to Fiji and be selected with his Fiji 15, the team. Mata made his debut in the test with Australia in June on the bench. He took part in three more tests for Fiji from the bench, and was able to submit the visa application in order in order to renew his passport to Scotland. After returning in Scotland in September of 2017 and was a regular player for the squad.
