Raymond entered semi-retirement in the three months following SummerSlam 1989. His last match in WWF was at The Royal Rumble in 1990 where the Rougeau Brothers lost against The Bushwhackers.
Rougeau was also an interviewer and presenter on WWF programming in 1993 and 1994.
Rougeau came out of retirement in August 8, 1996 to face Owen Hart in a boxing match at the Montreal Molson Centre during a WWF house show despite not being active as a competitor for years.
They lost their match at Wrestlemania III to Valentine and Beefcake in 1987, but they did briefly upset The Hart Foundation for WWF Tag Team Championship at Montreal Forum on August 10, 1987. The championship was rescheduled and disqualified. This happened because the challengers had initially won using Jimmy Hart’s megaphone.

Raymond Rougeau started training with his father, Jacques Rougeau Sr., and his great-uncle Eddie Auger when he was fourteen years old. In 1971, he made his debut in Joliette at the age 16 to support his father’s Montreal promotion of a babyface. He and his father fought The Love Brothers at Toronto in 1974. Raymond moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1976 to join Jim Barnett’s National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), along with Pierre Lefebvre, his close friend. He and his brother Jacques Rougeau Jr. fought Ron Garvin and Jimmy Garvin in Montreal in 1985.

- They made their debut during a tour through Australia. They defeated duos such as The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart), The Moondogs and Jimmy Jack, Jr., and The Dream Team, (Greg Valentine, and Brutus Beefcake) during their first year.
In late 1992, Rougeau replaced Edouard Carpentier as the play-by-play commentator for the French syndicated WWF programming distributed to Quebec, Europe and Africa. He commentated alongside Jean Brassard from 1994-1999, then for a short period with Philippe Hartman 2000-2002.
