Genge made his debut for the international team on May 29 in Twickenham as a substitute in the 66th minute in a 27-13 win over Wales. Genge was part of his 2016 England Rugby Union tour to Australia and was not involved in any of the games.
Following a strong start to the 2017–18 season Genge was named in England’s squad for the 2017 Autumn Internationals and played against Argentina and Samoa. On 2 December 2017 Genge suffered a shoulder injury in a Premiership Rugby match against Wasps. After four months injured Genge returned to the starting line up on 7 April 2018 against Bath in a match at Twickenham.
With many key players missing due to the 2017 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand, Genge was called up to the England squad for the 2 test tour of Argentina, starting both games, and also featuring in the warm-up game against the Barbarians.
Genge was a regular at Leicester during the 2016-17 campaign, playing in a league-leading 31 matches during the season. After being omitted from selection in this year’s Autumn Internationals, he was selected into his place in the England group for the 2017 Six Nations Championship. The 2017 season concluded with him named the club’s youngest player of the year , as well as receiving the Premiership Rugby Discovery of the Season Award.

Genge made his debut as a professional for Bristol on the 8th of December at the British and Irish Cup against Scottish side Gala and scored a goal in a 62-7 victory. Genge’s first game for the league during the RFU Championship came against London Scottish on the 26th of September, 2014.
