Jared Ross, a professional American ice hockey centre was born September 18, 1982. He was the first person born in Alabama and to be a part of the NHL when he joined the Philadelphia Flyers in 2008-09’s inaugural season. Jarred Tinordi, Jarred Tinordi, Jeff Halpern and Patrick O’Sullivan are the only NHL players who were born in the American South. He currently plays for the Atlanta Gladiators in the ECHL.
Ross signed a one year contract with ERC Ingolstadt, a German team in the DEL on April 30, 2011. Ross also committed to extending his contract with ERC in 2012, during the campaign.

Ross was a high school hockey player for Detroit Catholic Central. He also won the 2001 “Mr. Hockey” title as the best high school player in Michigan. Ross played four years of collegiate hockey for the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers before making his professional debut in 2005 with the Motor City Mechanics (United Hockey League). Ross spent the majority of his next two seasons with Chicago Wolves of American Hockey League before being traded to Philadelphia Phantoms on March 1, 2007 for Niko Dimitrakos. He led the Phantoms in points with 62. The Philadelphia Flyers signed Ross to a two way contract on April 8 2008.
Ross was drafted by the Flyers out of training camp. He made his NHL debut against the New York Rangers on October 11, 2008. Ross spent the majority of 2008-09 season with Phantoms. He led the team again with 69 points, and tied for the team lead with 29 assists. Ross was recalled after the regular season ended and played in every playoff game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. In game 3, he scored his first NHL goal, beating Marc-Andre Fleury 6-3 on April 19, 2009.
