Svoboda, a free agent on 13 January 2019, decided to spend the rest of the season in Finland and join top flight Liiga club Tappara. Svoboda was first loaned to LeKi Mestis club on 18 January 2019, before making his Tappara debut. He left Tappara after 6 games and played the rest of the season at Dornbirner EC in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL).
Svoboda agreed to a one year contract with HC Vitkovice Ridera on March 5, 2019.

Svoboda made the Czech Extraliga debut in 2014-15 playing for HC Ocelari Trinec. Svoboda spent the entire 2016-17 season on loan at HC Dukla Jihlava. This was the club’s second tier club. He helped the club get promoted back to the Extraliga. Svoboda decided to leave Trinec on 25 April 2017 to play a supporting role in the signing of a two-year contract to HC Plzen.
He signed with the Nashville Predators (NHL) on 26 April 2018. Svoboda attended the Predators training camp and was then re-assigned as primary affiliate to the Milwaukee Admirals. Due to the Admirals logjam, Svoboda was re-assigned and assigned to the Atlanta Gladiators, a secondary ECHL affiliate. He was called up to Nashville Predators on October 20, 2018 to replace Pekka Rinne. On 22 October 2018, he was returned to the Admirals. Svoboda did not make an appearance in AHL. He played in 14 games in ECHL before the Predators placed him on unconditional waivers to allow them to mutually terminate their contract on 9 January 2019.
