Tomaz Morais is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on April 6, 1970 in Lobito, Portugal. Tomaz Eduardo Carvalho Morais (born 6 April 1970 in Lobito, Angola) is an Angolan Portuguese union rugby coach and an ex-player.
He co-wrote the publication Compromisso: Nunca Desistir (“A Commitment Don’t Give up”) along with Journalist Carlos Mendonca.
He was appointed coach for his Portuguese nation’s team on September 1, 2001 and, after years of hard job, he won the European Nations Cup, for the first time in 2004. In the same year He was nominated for the title that is known as “Coach of the Year” by the IRB. He guided Portugal towards their debut Rugby World Cup finals, after defeating Uruguay in two sets. In the 2007 Rugby World Cup finals, Portugal lost all four their games, but they scored in each of them and scored a goal in each and an extra point in their 14-10 defeat to Romania.

Morais was the son of Portuguese colonists in Angola Morais was relocated to Portugal after the 25 April 1974 uprising. He later became an instructor in Physical Education and an union rugby player with the centre position for Cascais. He took a few months off from playing due to studying, and then was back playing for Direito. He was awarded 6 titles in the National Championship and 2 Iberian Cups.
Morais played in 20 matches for the Portugal the national team of union rugby and scored a goal between 1991 and 1995. Morais had to leave playing in 1996 because of an injury of a severe nature. He took advantage of the situation to begin a new career as a professional coach, starting at Direito.
He missed the qualification for the repechage to the 2011 Rugby World Cup, by finishing in 4th place. He left office as the National Team coach in March 2010 and was replaced by New Zealand Errol Brain in September. He took office in March 2010 as technical officer of the Portuguese Rugby Federation.
