Rohmer was a researcher and teacher in the Institute for Philosophy of Humboldt-Universitat Berlin and also at the Institute for Philosophy Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas in Madrid.

In 2015, he is an full-time Professor in the field of Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law in the Universidad of Medellin situated in Medellin, Colombia. In 2016, he is appointed Director for the Philosophy of Law program. One of the major objectives of his work is to create a bridge with Environmental Philosophy, Philosophy of Law and Environmental law. As director, he was responsible for the inaugural international conference Protection of Biodiversity as a Philosophical and Legal Problem, which took place at Universidad de Medellin between the 16th to 18th of March 2017. He also served as the director of the conference Somos Memoria. La Escuela de Madrid y El Exilio Espanol del 39 at Instituto Cervantes in Berlin (2013). Together along with Volker Gerhardt curated the conference Nature, Technique, Culture at the Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin (2008). In 2008, Rohmer has been a permanent participant in the Whitehead Research Project (WRP) located in Claremont, California (United States) which is directed by Roland Faber. He is currently working as a Mercator-Fellow in the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum.

Between the years 2008 until the year 2010, Rohmer was the holder of an intra- European Fellowship within the Marie Sklodowska Currie Actions of the European Union. Rohmer wrote a variety of monographs that draws heavily on the philosophical ideas that came from Hegel, Ortega y Gasset, Alfred North Whitehead and Helmuth Plessner.
