Delahunt joined Connacht in the initial three-month trial during Connacht’s summer 2014. He was a part of the team’s training and was part of an opening match in the match against Clermont Auvergne.

A product of the province’s academy, Delahunt signed his first full contract with the side in December 2015, becoming a member of the senior squad in the 2016–17 season.

Even though he was only an experimental player Delahunt was a part of the senior team in the season of 2014-15. Since the duo of Sean Henry and Jason Harris-Wright injured Delahunt was the only substitute for the 2014-15 Pro12 match against Leinster and, the next week, on the 24th of September Delahunt made his debut on the bench in a game against Glasgow Warriors. Then, in October of 2014, Delahunt was signed an academy agreement with the club and the following week, he made his debut in a league match with Benetton Treviso. Following his move to Connacht Delahunt joined Buccaneers which is one of the All-Ireland League side in the province. Delahunt had the European debut later in the year, playing as a substitute against Bayonne during the 2014-15 Challenge Cup on 13 December 2014. With the European debut, the player played nine appearances in the senior squad throughout the season.
