Mike Palefau is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on September 10, 1981 in Kahuku, Hawaii, United States. Palefau started playing rugby at the age of 18 years. Palefau was a student at Southern Utah University. He played rugby for the Collegiate All- American Team. Palefau was also a great athlete at Kahuku High school and Southern Utah University. He played defensive back in football and ran on the track team. Palefau was second in the 2000 Hawaii High School Championships, in both the 100-meter and 4×100-meter sprints.

Palefau was instrumental in leading Las Vegas to the 2010 national D1 club championship. Palefau is currently playing for OPSB in the Rugby Super League (US).

Palefau signed with the Seattle Seawolves in 2017, for the upcoming 2018 Major League Rugby season.

Palefau took a hiatus from international rugby in 2009-11 and focused on his family life as well as finishing his Master’s at Southern Utah University.

Palefau was “discovered”, in 2004 when he was playing for the Provo Steeler rugby club in a sevens tournament in Park City, Utah. US National team scouts saw Palefau’s athleticism, quickness, and speed. Palefau made his debut for the Eagles’ 15s national team against Canada in 2005. He has played wing for the national 15s team in 11 caps.

Palefau played club rugby in professional clubs in France with Narbonne (2006-07), and in Italy with Petrarca (2007-08). He then returned to the USA to complete his degree at Southern Utah University.

Palefau played for the US national 7s team. He was the team’s leading try scorer and points scorer for the 2011-12 IRB Sevens World Series. Palefau debuted for the national 7s team in 2005, playing in the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Since 2005, Palefau was a steady scorer for the US. At the time of his retirement from the 7s national team, he ranked as one of the top active try- scorers for the US 7s team with over 20 tries on the IRB Sevens World Series.
