He studied composition, electronic composition and musicology at the Rome Conservatory of Music and Bologna University. He was a student of Tristan Murail, Philippe Manoury (IRCAM), Franco Donatoni (Accademia S.Cecilia). In 1991, he was awarded the prize for the Cursus of Informatique Musicale in IRCAM. He has performed with performers like Uri Caine Magnus Andersonn, Guido Arbonelli, Corrado Canonici, Stefano Cardi, Mario Caroli, Diego Conti, Roberta Gottardi, Mari Kimura, Massimo Laura, Carin Levine, Michele Lo Muto. He developed software for calculation of dissonance as well as sound spatialization. In 2003, he invented the sMax toolkit, which is a toolkit designed to improve the sound quality of financial data. Cifariello Ciardi worked in 2003 with colleagues from the Department of Psychology of “La Sapienza” University in Rome. He has written several papers that deal with the analysis of music, psychology, and policies of music. As an expert in musicology, he has worked in collaboration with RAI-Radio3 and the Research Institute for Music Theatre, Rome and with RAI-Radio3.
