Jim Mallinder is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on March 16, 1966 in England, United Kingdom. Mallinder was appointed the Sharks the head coach in 2001, after he had retired from playing. The first year he was head coach, he guided his Sharks between 11th and 2nd place in the Premiership and also their initial Heineken Cup qualification. In 2002, he guided Sale into their first Parker Pen Shield, now the European Challenge Cup, and their first silverware.
In June 2007 Mallinder was appointed to the position of head coach for the newly relegated Northampton Saints. In his first season he led his Saints all the way back to winning their place in the Guinness Premiership with an undefeated “perfect” season. On June 25, 2008 the club signed him to an extension of his contract for three years that will keep him in Franklin’s Gardens until at least the close of the season in 2010/11.
2010/11 saw Mallinder become the first coach to guide a team unbeaten through the Heineken Cup pool stages and all the way to the final. At the Millennium Stadium the Saints put in their best first half performance in many years, but were pegged back by Leinster and eventually lost the game.
Northampton were defeated by East Midlands rivals Leicester Tigers in the 2012/13 Premiership final, but became Premiership champions for the first time the following year, defeating Saracens in extra time to clinch the 2013/14 season trophy. This followed success in the Amlin Challenge Cup final against Bath Rugby the previous week, representing an historic double trophy winning season for the club. On 2 June 2014 Mallinder signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at Northampton until 2019.
As he prepared for the 2008-09 campaign, Mallinder went to the former team Sale Sharks and signed Ben Foden, Chris Mayor, Christian Day and Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe who joined others who were former Sale teammates, Barry Stewart and Nick Johnson. Additionally, Mallinder recruited players such as Roger Wilson and Neil Best to the Saints from Ulster and the team formed by him finished in the eighth position in their first season back in the Premiership as well as making it to the semi-finals of the Anglo-Welsh Cup. A unbeaten pool season during the European Challenge Cup brought home advantage in the knockout stage and, after defeating Connacht as well as Saracens the Saints beat Bourgoin in Twickenham Stoop. Twickenham Stoop to claim their first piece of silverware for a decade, and secure a spot into the Heineken Cup in the process.
