Farah Palmer is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on November 27, 1972 in Te Kuiti, Waikato, New Zealand. Farah Rangikoepa Parker ONZM (born on 27th November, 1972) is a lecturer in the Department of Management at Massey University and was the ex- captain of the New Zealand women’s Rugby union team, known as the Black Ferns.
As of 2005, she was unable to play her first game for Black Ferns Black Ferns since 1996 due to an injury. In 2005, she was named International Women’s Personality of the Year by the International Rugby Board (IRB). As a representative of Manawatu she was instrumental in helping them to be promoted into the women’s national champion in 2006. That year she captained team Black Ferns in her third World Cup. After the Black Ferns defeated England 25-17, in the semifinal of the 2006 World Cup Palmer announced her quit playing. In her time as captain, of the Black Ferns lost only once as well as her record of 35 tests with the Black Ferns is the second only in number behind Anna Richards’ 49.

In 2016, she was awarded the Manawatu Standard Person of the Year award and was the first woman to win the award. Also in 2016, she was the first woman to be appointed to the board of New Zealand Rugby.
As of 1997 Palmer relocated temporarily in Hamilton and played for the Waikato University club and also for Waikato. Her return into Dunedin in 1998 and was a player in the club Alhambra Union. In 1998, she was captain of team Black Ferns to victory in the 1998 Women’s Rugby World Cup. The following year, she was awarded Woman’s Player of The Year award by New Zealand Rugby Union. She finished her PhD in the year 2000 and then in 2001, she moved into Palmerston North to take up the position of managing sports for Massey University. She was a part of Kia Toa, a Kia Toa rugby club. Palmer continued to be the captain of for the Black Ferns and led them to their two-time World Championship in 2002.

Palmer is a native of Te Kuiti, New Zealand and grew up in Piopio. When she was in primary and secondary high school Palmer was a netball player competitively and was also involved in swimming, athletics, tennis and cross- country. While she played rugby in the past, Palmer started playing regularly when she moved into Otago University to study physical education. The club she joined was Otago’s University team in the year 1992, and the following year was the first time she played for Otago. In 1994, she began performing regularly with Otago. She started out as a prop but switched to hooker.
Palmer first represented New Zealand on 31 August 1996, against Australia in Sydney. The match was which was won 28-5. In the same year, she was named Otago captain and was made Captain of the Black Ferns in 1997 with the win of 67-0 against England.
