Meiring began ten matches with Free State U21 in the U21 Provincial Championship in 2015 and was a huge success throughout the season and scored nine attempts. Meiring scored two attempts during three games at home – during their match with Eastern Province U21, their away game with the opposition as well as their home match against Leopards U21 – and also scored his seventh attempt of the season during a victory against their opponents the Golden Lions U21s as Free State took second place on the table to ensure an automatic semi-final place. Meiring scored the opening goal for his team against his team Sharks U21, in the semi-final game with a score within the 4th minute the match, which they ultimately lost 27-22 and also scored a consolation score at the end of the match in the final against Western Province U21, which the team from Cape Town won 52-17. Meiring’s try scoring feat placed him in joint second place on the total score charts for try scoring in the Group A of the tournament, behind fellow teammate Daniel Maartens, and joint-twelfth in overall scoring points.
Meiring was named in the wider training group of the Cheetahs Super Rugby team for the 2016 Super Rugby season, but did not make any appearances. Instead, he joined Kimberley-based side Griquas for the 2016 season. Meiring made his first class debut on 7 April 2016, coming on as a replacement in their 34–14 victory over Griffons in their first match of the 2016 Currie Cup qualification series, before making his first senior start in a 27–17 victory over the SWD Eagles a fortnight later. Meiring made a total of ten appearances for Griquas during the qualifying campaign – making two starts and eight appearances as a replacement – as he helped his team finish in second place to secure one of three available spots in the 2016 Currie Cup Premier Division. He made three appearances off the bench in that competition, with Griquas winning four of their eight matches to finish the season in sixth position.
In the 2014 season, Meiring joined the Bloemfontein-based Free State Cheetahs, where He was a part of the team’s Under-21 squad. He was not a part of the initial five rounds of the 2014 U21 Provincial Championship. However, after being brought on as a substitute for their following match against the Sharks U21s, he took on the rest of their matches during the tournament. Meiring scored just one score during their 72-0 win against Border U21. Free State finished in fourth in fourth place. The final of Meiring’s nine appearances was in their semi-final clash with Western Province, which his previous team defeated 41-17, ending Free State’s participation in the tournament.

Meiring was transferred to South African Cape town-based Western Province for the 2013 season. He played eight games in Western Province’s Western Province U19s during the 2013 Provincial Championship for Under-19s and scored two tries. He scored the sole try in the match for Western Province in a 10-34 defeat to the Blue Bulls, and one of nine in their victory of 62-0 against Border U19 in their next game. It ended the season in a disappointing way in the case of Western Province as they finished in fifth place, and missed out on a semi-final place despite being the reigning champions.
Meiring is a native of Boksburg and went to the high school of close proximity to Pretoria. He was picked for the team of Pretoria’s Blue Bulls at two national youth competitions in 2010. In 2010 he was an flanker in their Under-16 Grant Khomo Week held in Upington the following year, he played for them in the most prestigious South African high schools competition The Under-18 Craven Week. He played in every single game as the number eight player at the tournament that was held at Port Elizabeth, scoring a try in their 47-0 win against Gauteng adversaries known as the Golden Lions.
In March 2015, Meiring made three appearances for UFS Shimlas in the Varsity Cup competition. He made two starts and one appearance as a replacement during the round-robin phase of the competition as Shimlas finished in second place on the log with an unbeaten record. He didn’t feature in the play-offs, where Shimlas beat UCT Ikey Tigers in the semi-final and NWU Pukke in the final to win the competition for the first time.
