In the four-year period prior to Tarrant’s run for his seat in the House of Delegates, two of the delegated members Howard “Pete” Rawlings and Tony Fulton passed away in their positions. Marshall Goodwin and Catherine Pugh were appointed to serve out their term. Rawlings as well as Fulton were Democrats As were Goodwin as well as Pugh. In the year prior to the Democratic primaryelection, the sole incumbent delegate from the district, Salima Marriott was able to decide to contest the Senate seat that was vacated by the senator of the district. Catherine Pugh also decided to compete for the same seat making her newly-appointed Goodwin as the sole incumbent candidate in the race. The open seats attracted a huge number of candidates, [3] of which were Tarrant, Barbara Robinson and Frank M. Before running to be president of the United States, Mr. served as the president of the Ashburton Area Association from 1994 to 1999, which was a community improvement group within his community. He developed a number of long-running programs and is very satisfied with the results that he achieved by changing the zoning of Ashburton to the R-1 status (i.e. the zone allows single-family-only homes). He is a frequent presenter about improving the quality of housing and zoning codes. Tarrant is also extremely committed to education for children in public schools, serving six terms as the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) board member and vice-president for the PTO at his children’s private elementary school.
