Scott Murphy (born February 11 1979) is a popular American musician and singer-songwriter from the United States. He is most well-known for his role as a bassist as well as a vocalist and songwriter with the punk pop group Allister and his own solo projects released through Universal Music, and his collaboration with Weezer frontman and vocalist Rivers Cuomo through the name Scott & Rivers. Scott is currently also a bassistand vocalist in the Japanese group MONOEYES.

In 2009, Scott began to work on a new project together with Weezer’s vocalist and frontman Rivers Cuomo entitled Scott & Rivers. They share vocal duties and released the album with 12 original songs that are sung in Japanese on the 20th of March 2013 via Universal Music. The album features 11 original tracks and a version of Kimura Kaela’s hit song “Butterfly.” They performed their first concert on the Countdown Japan Festival in Chiba, Japan on December 31 in 2012, becoming the first non-Japanese band to play at the 10 year-old festival. They followed up with an all-sold out headline tour in March and April 2013 to announce their album’s launch. Murphy was also joined by Weezer performing onstage at Punk’s Spring 2013 festival which took place in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya to perform Scott & Rivers first single,”Homely Girl.” Scott & Rivers self-titled debut album available physical only in Japan as well as digitally globally via iTunes.

Scott Murphy went on to sign a contract as an artist on his own for Japanese big record labels Universal Music Japan – Universal J. In 2008 Scott Murphy dropped “Guilty Pleasures II”, and “Guilty Pleasures 3” as an extension of the group’s previous work. They were both recognized as Gold Records by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for shipments of more than 100,000 copies between October 10, 2009, and the 10th of December 2009.
