Emerick was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and played rugby at the University of Northern Iowa with the University of Northern Iowa Panthers. Then he moved to professional rugby for the Chicago Lions. He made the move to Italian rugby during the 2004-05 season with Amatori Catania and then to Overmach Parma in the next season. In the summer of 2006, Emerick was able to sign a contract with Celtic League side Newport Gwent Dragons who whom he helped knock out the Heineken Cup in a playoff in the previous month in the Overmach Parma team. In 2008, Emerick rejoined Italian team Overmach Parma from Welsh regional club Newport Gwent Dragons. Overmach Parma went through a restructuring process which saw the club join together with Noceto in August of 2010 to create Crusaders Rugby Parma. In September 2010 , he was signed by Ulster Rugby on a 3-month contract. He signed a contract to join London Wasps in February 2012. On the 7th of August, 2013, Emerick announced his decision to retire of professional soccer.
