Mehrdad Pooladi is one of the most popular and richest Iranian footballer who was born on February 26, 1986 in Karaj, Alborz, Iran. Mehrdad Pooladi, Persian: mhrdd pwldy, was born February 26, 1987. He plays for Al Kharaitiyat SC. He was an Iranian international who played as a leftback.

Carlos Queiroz was his mentor when Pooladi began his senior international career against Madagascar in July 2011. Queiroz made Pooladi move to the left back position. Pooladi took the chance and has been the first choice leftback ever since.

He was called into Iran’s 2015 AFC Asian Cup squad on 30 December 2014 by Carlos Queiroz. On 23 January 2015, he received a controversial red card in the quarter-final match of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup against Iraq by referee Ben Williams.

On 1 June 2014, he was called into Iran’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad by Carlos Queiroz. Pooladi was named as the second best-ranked player in the first week of the tournament behind Thomas Müller by FIFA, after receiving 9.7 points in the opening match against Nigeria. Pooladi was a Tractor Sazi player for the 2008-09 campaign, where he only played for one season. He was a central midfielder in Tabriz, and scored six goals that season. His most notable goal was a 40-yard free kick against Esteghlal, his former team in Tabriz.

As a Paykan Tehran product, Pooladi participated in all three games of the 2006 AFC Youth Championship for Iran U20. In 2005, he also participated in five games in the Valentin A.Granatkin memorial – International Youth Tournament Iran U20. He also participated in the 2006 Asian Games as a member U-23 Iran.

He transferred to Mes Kerman and played for the team for a year and a half, again mostly as a midfielder. In the mid-season of 2011–12, he was not included in Miroslav Blažević’s squad and left the team.
