Veasey lived with his siblings Ryan and Connie Veasey in several rental houses in Fort Worth’s Stop Six neighborhood. Marc, Ryan, and his mother divorced when he was ten. They moved in with their maternal grandmother, in the Como area of Fort Worth.
Veasey announced his candidacy to Texas’s 33rd congressional District. This new congressional district was created through reapportionment after the 2010 United States Census. The district is located in Tarrant and Dallas Counties. It is a Democratic district. The Cook Partisan Voting Index, (PVI), was D+14. It is home to 66% Hispanics and 17% African Americans.
Veasey represented Texas House District 95 between 2005 and 2013. From 2005 to 2013, he was the Chair Pro Tempore in the House Democratic Caucus. He sponsored legislation to increase technology and career training in high school. He was the author of HB 62, which honors Tim Cole, a Texas Tech University student wrongly convicted for raping a student in 1985. Marc also wrote a bill that required a study to help increase enforcement of the James Byrd Jr. hate crimes bill.

Veasey, currently the 33rd United States congressional district representative for Texas, was first elected in November 2012. He was previously a Democratic member of Texas’s House of Representatives, where he was Chair Pro Tempore of House Democratic Caucus.
Frost was defeated by Pete Sessions in 2004, as a result Texas’ 2003 redistricting. Veasey was challenged by Glenn Lewis, a Democratic State Representative from Texas, for Texas’s 95th House District. In the Democratic primary, he defeated the incumbent by 54%-46%. He was unopposed in the general election. He was reelected in 2006 (91%), 2008 (96%), 2010 (100%).
