born Leanne Clencey Lyons in The Bronx, New York, Lyons father left the family when she reached ten years old leaving her and her five brothers to be taken care of with her mom. When she was fifteen, Lyons had left her mother’s home and started living independently. At the age of sophomore, the age of 16, Lyons dropped out of Walton High School to support herself and her baby daughter. Lyons was the mother of two children at the age of seventeen, having a daughter named Margaret (born on the 12th of September 1988) then the birth of a son, Khiry (born on the 21st of January 1991).
SWV ended up disbanding in 1997. A 2014 appearance, with WE TV, Lyons commented on how the breakup of the group made her feel: “Depressed and all over the place. I didn’t know who I was. I had no drive, no light”.
In 2019, Lelee began working on her autobiography “I Regret The Day I Lost My Virginity: You Are Not Your Past”. In the book, Lyons tackles tough, personal subjects that would make most people uncomfortable. The book was released on July 17, 2019.
