His 26 ties to Cuba include World Group participation in 1993 which was the country’s first ever participation in the main tournament after being qualified by an expulsion from the Yugoslav squad due to Bosnian War. Cuba’s first World Group fixture came against Sweden in Kalmar and Pino was chosen for the role of Stefan Edberg in the first rubber. Pino was easily defeated in the first rubber by Edberg as well as losing the dead ball to Nicklas Kulti. Sweden took all the matches played in the match. The Cubans then traveled towards Saint Petersburg for a relegation play-off against Russia and were again beaten by the team with more experience. Pino fell in two singles matches, losing to Andrei Cherkasov and Yevgeny Kafelnikov.

Apart from the Davis Cup career, Pino was also a representative for Cuba often during his participation in the Pan American Games. He was awarded five medals in three different events and three of them came in the 1991 Pan American Games in the Cuban capital city of Havana.
