Joshua Trevor Stander (born (1994-01-01 ) 1 January 1994 in Cradock, South Africa) is a South African rugby union player for the Stormers in Super Rugby and Western Province in the Currie Cup and in the Rugby Challenge. The position he plays most often is the fly-half position.

His first professional career began with the 2014 Vodacom Cup. After having been a non-substitute during their games against Griquas and Pumas at the time, Stander made his debut for the Blue Bulls in their match against the Leopards XV in Leeudoringstad and scored two conversions in their 30-26 win. The Blue Bulls continued to make appearances in match with the Falcons as well as their counterparts the Griffons after which Stander recorded his very first professional score in the match against Limpopo Blue Bulls, also making five conversions in the game despite coming off the bench during the second period.

He was part of the Blue Bulls’ Currie Cup squad in 2014. Currie Cup Premier Division and was included as a reserve for the Round Three game with the Eastern Province Kings in Pretoria. He didn’t play in that game, but he was promoted to the starting lineup the following week to play in their game with Western Province after Tony Jantjies and Jacques-Louis Potter were ruled out because of injury and illness.

He attended school in Queenstown and was able to earn several call-ups for the youth side from the Border Bulldogs. At the primary school level the team was picked for the Border team that competed in the Under-13 Craven week competition. In high school the team was Queen’s College and represented Border at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2010 and the Under-18 Craven Week in 2011. He also had the opportunity to play in 2011 Craven Week, but was not selected because he signed up to the pretoria-based Blue Bulls and fell foul of a new Border Rugby Football Union policy that does not pick players for the Craven Week squad that already had signed agreements to other unions.

He played just one game with his Blue Bulls U19 side in the 2013 Provincial Championship for Under-19s in which he was on the bench and scoring a goal in a 56-7 victory over the former team Border U19 in East London.

He also played for the Blue Bulls U21 side in the 2014 Under-21 Provincial Championship. His game against the Border U21 turned out to be a memorable one as he scored two tries and kicked twelve conversions for a personal points haul of 34 points as the Blue Bulls recorded a 143–0 win.
