Jere Sallinen (born on 26th October on the 26th of October, 1990) is an Finnish professional ice hockey winger currently contracted for HIFK from the Liiga. He was first chosen for the Minnesota Wild in the 6th round (163rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Tomi’s older brother Tomi is also a professional hockey player in Europe.

After Jokerit’s shocking first round loss in the first round to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the 2015-16 season Sallinen as free agent decided to embark on an NHL career after signing a one-year contract to the Edmonton Oilers on March 13 in 2016. The 2016-17 season was a disappointment for Sallinen. Sallinen did not gain traction on the field in North America, registering just 10 points over 53 games for his Oilers American Hockey League affiliate known as the Bakersfield Condors.

At the conclusion of his contract in Sweden, Sallinen returned to the Liiga in Finland, agreeing to an optional two-year deal with HIFK on 7 May 2019.

After six games and aiding Orebro HK avoid relegation, Sallinen was a free agent and was able to sign the Finnish Kontinental Hockey League entrant, Jokerit on a two-year agreement on April 14 2014. For two seasons at Jokerit Sallinen played in the regular season 98 KHL games for Jokerit for 34 points.

Sallinen was a youth player in the Espoo Blues organization, before making his debut as a senior player with the club during 2007/08. Sallinen was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL draft for the Minnesota Wild, however opted to play playing professionally in Europe. While in the middle the fifth year in Espoo as he tried to make his mark in the SM-liiga league, Sallinen was loaned to a fellow Finnish team, HPK for the remainder of 2011-12.

He was a late-season transfer candidate when he decided to join the Swedish Hockey League with Orebro HK on the 21st of February 2014.

With the condors unable to gain a post-season berth, Sallinen as an impending free agent opted to return to Sweden for a second stint with Örebro HK of the SHL. He signed a two-year contract on May 12, 2017.
