DZ ae k s JEF JAKS ) (born on the 17th of June in 1981) is an American cartoonist who draws and writes Webcomics such as Questionable Content, Alice Grove and DORD (and before that “Indietits”).

Jacques was the Artist Guest of Honor at the 2006 Albacon. The web-based comic Questionable Content has been honored numerous times by the Web Cartoonists Choice Awards.

In September 2014, Jacques launched a new comic, Alice Grove, which updated once per week until the story finished in July 2017.

Jacques graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in music. He was married to his business manager Cristi until their amicable separation in

2014. In 2017, Jacques travelled to France and got married.

Jacques created Indietits as a independent project in April 1st in 2005, in order to implement concepts that were not suited within the framework of Questionable Content. When compared with Questionable Content, it is an easy strip, which avoids details and a linear storyline to focus on reusable panels and one-shot gags. To broaden the boundaries of his drawing, Jacques created Jephdraw to upload his unnamed sketches on the Internet. He uploads anything from his favorite drawings to sketches to let others check out what he’s doing during his spare time.

Questionsable Content (QC) is a humorous slice-of-life webcomic Jacques began the series on August 1st 2003. It first ran twice a week but was then increased to three updates per week after Jacques released strip #16. On September 4 2004 Jacques quit his day job and decided to publish QC every weekday. He also made money selling T-shirts featuring QC.

In 2005, Jacques started Deathmole as a virtual post-metal band whose music and lyrics are accessible on the internet. The group is currently comprised by three of his characters in the graphic novel Questionable Content. The band’s name is featured within Strip 554 in the comic’s first appearance. Since its beginning, Jacques has periodically released single Deathmole songs on his LiveJournal or Tumblr which is where they are accessible.
