He was a player for MLB as a member of the New York Mets, and has been a coach for his team, the Minnesota Twins.
On the 24th of May Hefner made his debut MLB game against San Diego Padres. On May 30 Hefner achieved his first major league victory over The Philadelphia Phillies, which also included his first hit, a homer. The Mets pitcher was first to hit home runs and win his first big league win in the same match after Dennis Tankersley did it on May 26th 2002. Also, he was the very first Mets pitcher to win their first major league win as well as a hit a homer in the same game.
