He plays for Edinburgh Rugby, the Pro14. He played previously for Glasgow Warriors where he won 147 caps and captained the team to the Pro12 title in 2014-15.

Pyrgos was a player for Glasgow Warriors in Pro14. In 2014-15, he won the Pro12 title for the club. For the 2016-17 season, he was co-captain with Jonny Gray. For the 2017-18 season, the co-captaincy was rescinded by Dave Rennie, but the scrum-half continued to be part of the Warriors’ leadership group. Before leaving the Warriors at the end, he played in 147 matches.

In July 2018 it was confirmed that Pyrgos would be moving to rival team Edinburgh Rugby for the prospect of more frequent game time.

His second cap appearance was against South Africa on 17 November. He scored his first international try at Murrayfield, but Scotland lost the match with a score of 10-21. He made his third cap appearance against Tonga on 24 novembre. The game was played at Pittodrie, Scotland. Scotland lost 15-21.
