Helle Frederiksen, a professional Danish triathlete, was born 5 March 1981 in Odense. She was 27th in the triathlon category for Denmark at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She won the 2018 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, as well as the 2014 Hy-Vee Triathlon (2014 Challenge Bahrain).

Helle Frederiksen participated in 36 ITU competitions between 2006 and 2010, where she was awarded 18 of the top ten positions.

Frederiksen was a student at Syddansk Universitet and earned a bachelor’s in sports (Idraet og Sundhed 2005). After moving to Farum, she continued her studies for a master’s in physical education and nutrition (Cand. Scient. i Human Ernaering (2008) at the University of Copenhagen

Frederiksen, who was 12-18 years old, was a swimmer and was part of the national swimming team. When she retired from elite sport in 1999, Frederiksen had won numerous Danish championships.

After five years as a spinning instructor, she found it hard to miss her past life as an elite athlete. In 2004, she participated in and won a women’s Triathlon (Piger med Power), in Odense. At the Danish Championships 2005, she was second in Sprint and third in Olympic Distance. Frederiksen won at the Olympic Distance the Danish Championships in 2006 after a long training period on Australia’s Gold Coast. She was the Danish Triathlon Champion for four consecutive years, 2006-2009. She was unable to finish Nykobing Falster’s National Championships in 2010 due to a flat tire on the bike stage.

In 2010, Frederiksen suffered a mixture of misfortunes. Since her bicycle crash at the World Championship Series event in Madrid, she suffered from a hip and back injury and later a spinal disc prolapse dating back to 2007 started to cause pains again. On the other hand, Helle Frederiksen was awarded an Olympic Scholarship for Athletes London 2012 and competed at the 2012 Olympic Games, finishing in 27th place.
