Graham Nicholls (born 30 July 1975 in London, England) is an author, artist and installation and expert on experiences outside of the body. He has spoken extensively about parapsychology, ethics, and art in a variety of institutions to his home at the London Science Museum, The Society for Psychical Research to the Cambridge Union Society.
Nicholls says he has experienced OBEs (OBEs) from the age of around 12-years- old. The experiences led him to investigate a variety of aspects of parapsychology. In 2009, Nicholls detailed his experiences as well as his ideas in relation to OBEs in an article which was published in Kindred Spirit magazine. In the article, he clarifies that his belief is that science in general will eventually accept psi or psychical perceptions , as something that is natural and not supernatural or supernatural.
Nicholls also claims to have had several veridical out-of-body experiences. In his books, articles and in recent videos published he gives examples of his out-of-body experiences that have been witnessed and confirmed by others. The videos feature the witnesses describing what they saw and recorded in notes at the time of the OBEs supporting Nicholls version of events. He also outlines an example of a claimed objective OBE in his October 2011 article for the journal of The Institute of Noetic Sciences. Skeptics would generally dispute such claims as unreliable and impossible by current understandings of science.
Beyond poverty he is also interested in the various social justice issues. According to a 2012 book on polyamory, Nicholls supports LGBT issues, polyamory, and feminism. He is also an outspoken supporter of animal rights and veganism, in a recent interview he states that he has been vegetarian since 1992 and went vegan in 2005. He also states that “Veganism was the obvious next step in my ethical understanding and one that avoids supporting violent and exploitative practices.”
In the course of his research into the role of psi in consciousness in humans In 2009, he began working on a set of telepathy tests in an ongoing collaboration together with Rupert Sheldrake, a controversial scientist. The results of the experiment came from Rupert Sheldrake’s studies in his role as the director of the Perrott Warrick project that is administered through Trinity College, Cambridge.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Nicholls has been developing artistic work which explore topics such as the hypnosis of sensory deprivation and psi capabilities. Nicholls was the first artist to exhibit a solo exhibition at an exhibition run by James Fuentes in New York City in July 1999. Then in 2004 he incorporated some of his ideas about psychology into a virtual reality installation titled The Living Image. The installation was the result of a collaboration with Graham Nicholls, 3D designer Roma Patel, and site-specific artist Trudi Entwistle of the London’s Science Museum, much of which was based on Nicholls’s own life and places from his youth. It was also the focus of a research study that examined the effects of virtual reality and installation art. The details of which were published in two books that dealt with scenography and performances. Science and technology in the form of such projects as those employed to create The Living Image project, play a major role in the output of his art, with his virtual web projects are recognized internationally as part of The Handbook of the economics of art and culture.
In 2004, Nicholls created an organization called The Shahmai Network with a special concentration on the work of reducing poverty, and human rights. The Shahmai Network was an official member of the Make Poverty History campaign focused on promoting debt relief for countries that are that are in extreme poverty. This culminated in protests at influencing the G8 conference that took place in the year 2005.
Well known sceptic and critic of parapsychology James Randi also responded to an article about Nicholls that appeared in 2011 asking why those mentioned in the article, including Dean Radin, Rupert Sheldrake, Michael Persinger, and Graham Nicholls have not applied for the One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge. Nicholls penned a response to Randi expressing doubts towards Randi’s honesty, scientific credibility, and the limits of a single test to explore issues such as the existence of OBEs.
