Fehmi Demir is one of the most popular and richest Turkish Politician who was born on January 2, 1957 in Yeniceoba, Konya Province, Turkey. Fehmi Demir was born January 2nd, 1957, in the Turkish town of Yeniceoba (Incov) in the district of Cihanbeyli, Konya Province. He was the oldest of six children. He was educated at Yeniceoba townschool and completed his high and middle schooling in Cihanbeyli. He was a graduate of at the Eskisehir Academic Faculty of Commercial Science that later became the Anadolu University. While in college and during his time at university, he was a member of the pro-Kurdish political and university societies as well as taking on positions as a member of Eskisehir Halkevleri. On the 25th of October, 2015 Demir had a collision on an expressway within Tarsus, Mersin Province, when his car crashed into another vehicle sporting the Austrian license plate that was failed to repair. In the crash, both Demir as well as Haci Murat Dogu who was the driver in the Austrian vehicle, were severely injured, and died on the spot. They were taken into Tarsus State Hospital after the accident. The funeral was held in his home town in Cihanbeyli, Konya Province and was attended by prominent Kurdish-proponents, including the Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) co-leader Selahattin Demirtas.
On 25 October 2015, just six days before the November 2015 general election, Demir was killed in a traffic accident while travelling on a motorway through Tarsus in Mersin Province. His party had fielded candidates in 78 electoral districts for the election, while Demir had been the HAK-PAR’s first- preference candidate in Diyarbakır.
The HAK-PAR had their sixth Regular Grand Congress on 26 October 2014, when 278 delegates were able to vote to elect a new leader who will replace Kemal Burkay. Demir received 164 votes to his opponent Bayram Bozyel’s score of 114, however the vote was canceled because less than 50% of participants were registered. But, when Bozyel quit this race Demir got the honor of being declared winner.

Fehmi Demir (2 January 1957 25th October, 15th, 2015) was an Turkish politician with Kurdish origin who was his party’s leader from the Rights and Freedoms Party (HAK-PAR) from October 2014 until his demise the following year in October of 2015. He advocated for a federalist program that advocated the division of Turkey into multiple federal states to grant the Kurdish areas greater political autonomy.
In the 1990s, Demir was active in the pro-Kurdish political party in Turkey. He was an early part of the People’s Labour Party (HEP) and was a member of the party’s council. He was also one of the founding members of the Democracy Party (DEP) and was elected Vice-General Secretary. Later, he became a founding member in the Democracy and Change Party (DDP) and served as the General Secretary of the DDP until the party’s demise. He was one of the first participants of the Democracy and Peace Party (DBP) and was its General Secretary from DBP from the time of its founding. DBP until the creation of the Rights and Freedoms Party, where he was the Deputy Leader until his election as the party’s Leader.
As leader, Fehmi Demir led the HAK-PAR into a general election for the first time since the party was founded, contesting the June 2015 general election in 78 provinces. The party won just under 60,000 votes, well below the 10% election threshold necessary to win seats in Parliament. At the time of Demir’s death, the party was campaigning for its second general election, due to be held on 1 November.
