Mahmut Tanal is one of the most popular and richest Turkish Politician who was born on January 1, 1961 in Hilvan, Turkey. Tanal was born in Bahcecik, Hilvan, Sanliurfa, in 1961. Between 1982 and 1986, he studied at Istanbul University’s law faculty. He was a member of the Bahcesehir University’s political school between 2005 and 2006. He was a delegate of the Bar of Istanbul to The Turkish Bars Association between 2006 and 2008. He is a freelance lawyer.
Tanal is reported to have sat in front of a police car during the Labour Day protests at Taksim Square on May 1, 2014. Daily Sabah reports that Tanal was involved in a fight against the police officers who tried to remove him.
Tanal, a member of the CHP, presented the CHP’s objection that Recep Tayyip Turkey remain as Prime Minister and also run as a presidential candidate for the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey in 2014. He also stated that the opposition was due to Erdogan’s political and ideological history. Tanal also referred to 2008’s judicial decision to stop Erdogan’s AK Party state financing due to “violations democratic and secular principles”, and said that the case “applies not to a group, but to a individual”.
