Eric Martinsson (born October 22 in 1992) is an Swedish professional defenceman in ice hockey who currently plays in the Swedish Hockey League HV71 from the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

On the 28th of November in 2018 Martinsson was signed by Swiss club Geneve- Servette HC of the National League (NL) for the remaining season under an one- year contract valued at CHF 500,000. He joined the club to replace in the absence of the injured Johan Fransson. On the 6th of January the 6th of January, 2019 Martinsson was struck from behind, and fell head-first into the boards, caused by Marc Wieser in a game against HC Davos. Martinsson quit the game, and went to the hospital at Davos which he stayed in for the night before heading back to Geneva the following day. He was struck by a concussion that was severe that kept him out for two months. While Wieser was fined just CHF 5,100 and banned to three matches. Martinsson returned to the Geneva squad with a total of 10 games remaining during the regular season. He was a fit player for the games 3 , 4 and 5 of 2019’s Quarterfinals , which will be played against SC Bern. Martinsson had a poor performance following his return but was not offered an extension by Geneva which made him the free agent.

On April 17, 2019, Martinsson returned to Sweden, agreeing to a three-year contract with HV71 of the SHL.

The Rogle BK confined to the second-tier Allsvenskan team, Martinsson signed an initial two-year deal for The Vaxjo Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) on April 15th, 2014. Martinsson had his SHL debut as a player with the Lakers throughout the 2014-15 SHL season. He also won the Le Mat Trophy.

Martinsson initially played as an infant playing with Rogle BK from the SuperElit before playing just one North American junior season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the 2012-13 season.

2018. After attending the Wild’s training camp, Martinsson was assigned to begin the 2018–19 season, with American Hockey League affiliate, the Iowa Wild. Martinsson produced 9 assists in 13 games before opting to mutually terminate his contract with the Wild, after being placed on unconditional waivers on November 28, 2018.
