Pedro Ricardo Sevcec (born July 14 1954) is a Uruguayan journalist and television personality most well-known for his role as anchor on Noticiero Telemundo in the United States between 2000 and 2009. Sevcec has previously worked as a journalist for Ocurrio Asi prior to hosting his own show for the channel. He hosts Sevcec a Fondo on AmericaTeVe since 2011, and also has his own drive-time afternoon radio program that airs on WSUA Miami- Radio Caracol 1260 AM, which is titled La Ventana con Pedro Sevcec.

Sevcec was a participant in his participation in the Los Angeles May Day Melee that was held on May 1st of 2007. In video footage from the event, Sevcec is seen running away from police officers during the evening when his live broadcast was being broadcast. When he was interviewed, Sevcec described how officers were hitting women and children while they fled.

In 2011, Sevcec joined AmericaTeVe and began hosting Sevcec A Fondo, where he remains to this day.

On the 17th of February 2004 the blast occurred at an Iraqi school in which Sevcec recorded a documentary on the opening of the school. The school was not damaged, and no injuries. Sevcec also escaped a gunfight between guerrillas and military during the war in El Salvador years before.

After arriving in America, upon his first visit to the United States, Sevcec started working as a reporter for the Spanish International Network. In 1986, he switched to Telemundo which he worked for as a journalist and reporter for its news network. Sevcec was a co-anchor and reporter of Ocurrio Asi from 1993 along with Enrique Gratas. Sevcec was later host of his own talkshow Sevcec that ran from 1994 until before being replaced by Laura in America. Sevcec was back on Ocurrio Asi as host for a brief time in 1999, following the departure of its original hosts Enrique Gratas left Telemundo that year.

The year 2000 saw Sevcec was the primary anchor for Noticiero Telemundo, where he was for the following nine years. In this period Sevcec interviewed several world leaders and presidents including the then-president George W. Bush. The month of September, 2001 was the time he along with Brit Hume from Fox News Channel were the only two journalists who attended the first state dinner of President Bush.

On December 16, 2009, Telemundo announced that Pedro Sevcec was being replaced as anchor of the Noticiero Telemundo nightly newscast with Jose Diaz-Balart, a veteran anchor and reporter. The Miami Herald reported that Telemundo was replacing Sevcec as “part of a big new push at Telemundo toward news integration — not just between shows, but between the network’s broadcast, cable and digital operations as well.”
