Claude Auger is one of the most popular and richest Surgeon who was born on February 8, 1951 in Lévis, Quebec, Canada. Brigadier-General C. Auger SBStJ, CD, QHS, MD, FRCPC (8 February 1951 – 16 December 2007) was the 34th Canadian Surgeon General.
In during the Gulf War, Auger led the two initial Canadian Forces Advance Surgical Teams into Saudi Arabia (Operation Scalpel) as part of the Canadian Government’s commitment to the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm) in 1991. The summer of that identical year Auger relocated to Ottawa as chief of surgery at the National Defence Medical Centre (NDMC) which that he held until. In the course of his work, he was also deployed in Somalia as well as twice Bosnia in the capacity of a surgical surgeon for the Advanced Surgical Centre.
Between 2000 and 2001, Auger worked at the Hôpital de Gatineau as a general surgeon. In 2002, he began working for the Canadian Medical Protective Association in Ottawa, Ontario, until his retirement in 2006.
After a short battle with cancer, Brigadier-General Auger died in his home surrounded by his family 16 December 2007 at the age of 56.
When he joined the army in 1984 Auger had been assigned as a surgeon to CFH Valcartier, as a general surgeon. The following year , he returned back to CFH Europe. The year 1985 saw Auger became Lieutenant Colonel, and later became his Chief of Surgery. A few years after Auger received the rank of Colonel, and then transferred into CFH Halifax, as Chief of Surgery.

Auger was a member of Auger joined the Canadian Armed Forces, under the Medical Officer Training Plan (MOTP) in the year 1970. His first assignment was to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax as Medical Officer General Duty and later transferred to Lahr, Germany in 1975. In Lahr, he worked for an entire year as the medical officer for the regimental for the 1er Battalion du Royal 22eme Regiment and was then two years at the Canadian Forces Hospital (CFH) Europe. In 1978 the year he was promoted to Major, shortly after which he returned in Laval University to complete post-graduate education on General Surgery.
The family was born in Levis, Quebec, Claude was father of Therese (nee Pouliot) and Raoul Auger, was educated at Laval University, where he graduated with a magna cum loupe, an associate’s diploma in health sciences. He received his Medical Degree in 1974. Auger completed postgraduate studies from 1978 to 1983 as well as at Laval University, in General Surgery and then became the Fellow in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
In 1996, Auger was posted to the staff of the Surgeon General, as Director of Medical Treatment Services, and later Chief of Staff. In 1998, Col Auger was promoted to Brigadier-General, and appointed Surgeon General. He remained in the position until his retirement from the military in January 2000.
