Rosemary Tumusiime Biography

Rosemary Tumusiime is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on May 17, 1962 in Entebbe, Wakiso District, Uganda. Tumusiime was the eighth child of eight children and was born at Entebbe Grade B Hospital in Entebbe District, Wakiso on 17 May 1962. Robert Bikaako, her father, is a retired meteorologist. Mary Bikaako, her mother, was a school teacher.

Tumusiime was an RCI Councillor in Kitooro Central back in 1989, when local councils were still known as resistance councils. She was elected RCIII councillor for Division B Entebbe in 1991. She also served as co-currently the Mpigi District women councillor for a period of three years. She was elected LCIV councilor for Nakasamba Kitasa Kakeeka Bugonga in 2001. This position was held by the veteran Councillor until 2016, when she was elected member to parliament.

Prior to her political career, Tumusiime was a branch manager for Office Services, Supplies & Equipment (OSSE) Limited, a revenue inspector for the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda (CAA), an assistant marketing officer and shipping assistant for Uganda Coffee Marketing Board and; a bookkeeping assistant and records assistant for the Ministry of Health. She is the founder member of UWESO Entebbe and served as the chairperson of the women organization’s National Executive Committee from 2000 to 2006. She is also a former chairperson for TASO Entebbe, was the board chairperson of Success Microfinance Limited in 2010, the community advisory board chairperson of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) from 2001 to 2013 and the chairperson of the Women’s Network for Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation (LVRLAC) from 2006 to 2012.

Also, Tumusiime was the Mothers Union treasurer and chairperson at St. John’s Parish Church, Church of Uganda, Entebbe. She additionally served the Anglican church as the head of the Laity for the Archdeaconry of Entebbe from 2006 to 2014.

Tumusiime began her career in 1980 as a records assistant and in 1982 as a bookkeeping assistant for the Ministry of Health. She joined the Uganda Coffee Marketing Board in 1988 as a shipping assistant. This position she held until 1996, when she was promoted to assistant marketing officer. Tumusiime was hired by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda in 1997 as a revenue inspector. She held that position until 2000, when she became the Branch Manager for Office Services, Supplies & Equipment Limited.

Rosemary Bikaako Tumusiime, a Ugandan politician, public administrator, feminist, and marketing professional was born 17 May 1962. She is currently the elected Member for Entebbe Municipality. Her primary education was at St. Theresa Primary School in Entebbe and Lake Victoria School. She received her PLE certification in 1975. Tumusiime attended Gayaza High School, Christ The King Secondary School Kalisizo and Caltec Academy Makerere to complete her O-Level education. She also received an EACE certification and a UACE certificate in 1979. She was a librarian at Gayaza Secondary School Kalisizo and a student leader in Christ The King Secondary School Kalisizo.

Tumusiime further advanced to the National College of Business Studies where she attained a Higher Diploma in Marketing in 1991 and then to Makerere University, where she graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce.
