On December 15, 2018, UFC on Fox 31 hosted Gordon vs Joaquim Silva. In round three, he lost via knockout. He was awarded the Fight of the Night for this fight. After the Silva fight, he signed a new UFC contract despite losing his two previous fights.

Gordon was expected to face Leonardo Santos on November 16, 2019 at UFC on ESPN+ 22. However, Santos withdrew from the fight and was replaced by Charles Oliveira. He lost the fight via knockout in the first round.

Gordon was to make his promotional debut against Michel Quinones at UFC 211. Gordon withdrew from the fight the day before due to stomach illness. The card was withdrawn from the event and rescheduled for June 25, 2017, at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa Vs. Lee in Oklahoma City. Gordon was unable to reach the required featherweight limit of 146Ibs at the weigh-in. He was therefore fined 20% of his wages and the bouts were moved to catchweight. TKO secured Gordon his first UFC victory.
