After being banned from Japanese football, Loamanu retreated to Toulon during the 2009/10 season, and he played three seasons at Toulon. He was released in 2012 and then joined Benetton Treviso after his former coach John Kirwan suggested the move.
On 22 June 2016, Loamanu returned to France as he signed for Provence, competing in the Pro D2 from the 2016-17 season.
Loamanu was a member of Toshiba Brave Lupus in 2008 and was crowned the Top League with them, but in February 2009 , he was found to be a marijuana user and was barred for life from playing throughout Japan from the JRFU while his club Toshiba Brave Lupus withdrew from the All Japan Championship after the incident. In the year 2011, Japan head coach John Kirwan appealed for the ban to be lifted prior to the Rugby World Cup but the request was rejected to the JRFU who claimed that the player “was not suitable to represent Japan”.

His grandfather, Tevita Sitanilei, played in the scrum team of the Tongan national union team in rugby, and his brother Sitani played for the Tongan national team in the league. Loamanu left home in Tonga at 15 and moved to Japan on an academic scholarship. His debut with the Japan national team of union rugby in the match against Uruguay in April of 2005, aged 18 years, 338 days old. He became the oldest player to ever play for Japan (a record that was later broke by Yoshikazu Fujita). After his second appearance with Hong Kong, Loamanu was exiled for a period of one-year from playing for the Japan team following his involvement in a scuffle with women professional wrestling champion Mika Akino from Tokyo’s Roppongi nightclub district.
He was called up to the side in 2007, and scored a hat-trick when he returned to the team against Korea and also played in the Rugby World Cup later that year.
In May 2014, Loamanu has signed for English club Leicester Tigers where he will compete in the Aviva Premiership from the 2014-15 season. The Japanese Rugby Union decided to lift his indefinite ban in November 2014.
