After graduating with high honors at Chilhowie High School, in the year 1980, Marion pursued a degree in music from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee although eventually graduating with a psychology degree. It was during her time in Carson Newman that made inroads and established relationships that brought Marion towards Nashville, Tennessee to pursue professional music.
Since the move from Nashville from 1987 to Nashville, Marion is a frequent performer with Steven Curtis Chapman, Shenandoah, Beth Moore and Jeannie Seely from the Grand Ole Opry. In 1994, and Danny Myrick, Marion founded the country-rock group Western Flyer on the Step One Record label. The label has earned four chart-topping Billboard songs in the country genre , in addition to reviews of praise.
