Timu served two years as a missionary in New Zealand and Cook Islands for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He then returned to the Broncos. He was a Souths Logan Magpies player in the Queensland Cup, and he played for the Broncos at the 2016 NRL Auckland Nines.
