Davids returned to South Africa in 2016 and was selected in the Western Province U19 team that participated in the 2016 Under-19 Provincial Championship. He was a part of six of their 12 matches during the regular season. His team won one match against the Leopards U19s and finished at the top of the log with ten wins, two losses. Davids was on the bench for their semi-final win over Free State U19 at 30-15. He then started the final where his team lost 19-60 to Golden Lions Under-19. Davids was awarded the BrightRock U21 Uounce Player of Year award at the Western Province end-of-year awards ceremony.
In January 2017, Davids was included in the senior South Africa Sevens squad for the 2017 Wellington Sevens tournament as a replacement for the injured former captain Kyle Brown.

Davids represented Western Province in the tournaments one year later. The team hosted the event in Stellenbosch. Davids was instrumental in helping the team reach the tournament’s main match, where they defeated their Eastern Province counterparts 95-0. They were then unofficial champions. Davids was selected to be part of the South Africa Schools A’ team for the Under-18 International Series in August 2015. Davids scored a try in the 29-14 win over Italy and was also a starter in the 8-33 loss to England four days later. Davids was promoted from the junior South Africa Schools team after injuries to Ruben Van Heerden, Cobus Wiese and came on in the final match of series, a 23-16 win over England.
Davids was born in Cape Town and grew up there. He was a member of the first rugby team at Rondebosch Boys’ School, where he also played. At youth tournaments, he earned provincial colours several times representing Western Province. He was part of their Under-16 Grant Khomo Week squad in Vanderbijlpark in 2013. He scored one try in their victory over the Leopards at 50-12. He was also named in the Western Province squad of South Africa’s top schools rugby union competition, The Under-18 Craven Week. This event took place in Middelburg in 2014. He played in all three matches, scoring one try against the Free State.
After high school, Davids joined Western Province’s academy, the Western Province Rugby Institute. In March 2016, he was included in a South Africa Under-20 training squad, and made the cut for a reduced provisional squad a week later. On 10 May 2016, he was included in the final South Africa Under-20 squad for the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship tournament to be held in Manchester in England. He started all three of their matches in Pool C of the competition; after scoring two tries in their opening match, a 59–19 victory over Japan, he was on the losing side in the second match, as Argentina won the match 19–13. He scored another try in their final match, a 40–31 victory over France, try that ensured South Africa qualified for the semi-finals as the best runner-up. Davids also started their semi-final against hosts England, but could not prevent them suffering a 17–39 loss and he was on the losing side again in the third-place play-off as South Africa lost to Argentina for the second time in the tournament, ending in fourth position overall. Davids’ three tries ensured he finished the tournament as South Africa’s top try-scoring forward, and joint-top try scorer alongside backs Manie Libbok and Edwill van der Merwe.
