Lokvenc was born in a football-related family and his father, known as Vratislav Lokvenc was a player in soccer for the club FK Usti nad Labem in the second league of Czechoslovakia and then Nachod. The birth of Lokvenc was in 1973. Lokvenc began his career in the 1992-93 season as a player for Hradec Kralove, joining Sparta Prague in the month of October 1994. He was part of 1995 and 1996 UEFA Cup for Sparta, scoring the opening goal and supplying the pass for the second one in the 2-1 victory over Danish team Silkeborg IF, whereby Sparta was able to qualify under the rule of away goals during the round two. He scored his first goal after he was introduced as a substitute in the first round game that was part of the 1996-97 winner of the UEFA Cup match against Austrian club Sturm Graz; the match ended at with a score of 2-2.

Lokvenc played in international football in his country, the Czech Republic. He took part in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup before going on to play in three major tournaments. He played three substitute games during Euro 2000 and played in one match at Euro 2004. His final international competition included in the 2006 World Cup, where Lokvenc played in two group matches , before being suspended for the third one due to suspension. In the end, Czech Republic did not qualify to play in the next round of the tournament and Lokvenc later retired out of the international game in the year 2006.

Lokvenc joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern of the German Bundesliga in 2000, agreeing to the move before the 2000 European Championship. Around the same time, a daughter was born to Lokvenc in May 2000. He scored six goals in an 11–1 friendly match win against an amateur side before the start of the season. In December 2000 Lokvenc scored in the UEFA Cup against Rangers, helping his team qualify for the last 16 of the competition. In the following round Kaiserslautern were paired with Slavia Prague; after the first match had finished goalless, Lokvenc scored the only goal in the second leg of their two-legged tie to eliminate the Czech team. He scored a hat-trick in the 2002–03 DFB-Pokal quarter-final against Bochum, a game which finished 3–3 but was won by Kaiserslautern after a penalty shoot-out. Lokvenc played in the final of the competition at the end of May 2003, but his side were beaten 3–1 by league winners Bayern Munich as the latter claimed the double.

Lokvenc scored twice as a substitute in a June 2003 qualification match against Moldova, scoring both goals with his head in a 5–0 win for his country. He played in one match at Euro 2004. He started the group match against Germany among a group of players which was described by the BBC as “very much a Czech second string”, but failed to score and was replaced by Milan Baroš after 59 minutes. The Czech Republic won the match, 2–1.

Lokvenc played for six seasons with Sparta Prague, with whom he took home five league titles as well as his first Czech Cup. The month of March, 2000 during an encounter with Ceske Budejovice, Lokvenc scored four times for Sparta when the game ended 4-1. He became the third person in the Czech time to score four goals in the same match following Josef Obajdin and Robert Vagner. Lokvenc scored two goals during the Prague derby in the Prague derby match against Slavia Prague on May 20, 2000. The result was the 5-1 win that earned the title of league champion for Sparta. Lokvenc was the top scorer in the Czech First League in the 1999-2000 campaign with 22 goals. He tied the record set by the league that stood for a while until David Lafata scored 25 goals in his 2011-12 campaign.

Vratislav Lokvenc (Czech pronunciation: [‘vracIslaf’lokventsborn 27th Sept. 1973) is a Czech former professional footballer who was striker. After playing as a youth player for Nachod along with Hradec Kralove, he began his professional career in the second team. After the move into Sparta Prague he won five league titles and a cup, and also the league’s top scorer award.
