Morrissey (born on March 28 1995) is a Canadian professional defenceman in ice hockey as well as alternate captain for the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was chosen for Winnipeg Jets during the initial round of selection, 13th overall from the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
In the following winter, Morrissey was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, which was the 13th overall, from the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Before the start of 2013-14 Morrissey was appointed Captain of the Raiders. On the 3rd of October of 2013 Morrissey was signed by the Winnipeg Jets signed him to the three-year contract with a two-way option but he returned back to Prince Albert for the season. He was the second highest scoring player in the WHL in the 2013-14 season, scoring the equivalent of 28 goals as well as 45 assists (73 points) during 59 regular season games, in addition to a plus-minus score of +6 as well as 59 penalties minutes. The Raiders finished third on the East Division before being swept by ultimate the 2014 Memorial Cup champions, the Edmonton Oil Kings, in the opening round.

Morrissey was called-up to Winnipeg’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, during the 2013–14 season, playing eight regular season games as well as 20 games in the 2014 Calder Cup playoffs. The Jets assigned him to the Manitoba Moose (their new AHL affiliate) the following season, although they briefly called him up late in the season to make his NHL debut in a home game against the Montreal Canadiens on March 5, 2016.
Morrissey has played for Canada in a variety of International tournaments which include those at the IIHF World U18 Championships, the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the IIHF World U20 Championships. Morrissey helped the under-18 team take bronze at the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships, and also the under-20 team in the 2014 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship. Morrissey was selected as a member of the 2015 World Junior All-Star First Team and finished with 4 points, and an +9 plus rating.

When he was a kid, Morrissey played in the 2007 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in his Calgary Flames minor ice hockey team. Morrissey was chosen for the Western Hockey League (WHL)’s Prince Albert Raiders in the initial round, ranked sixth overall from the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft after skating for the Calgary Royals Gold, and being named the best defenceman of the bantam from southern Alberta. Morrissey was able to make his WHL debut in 2010 , skating in five games for Prince Albert, spending most of the season playing for Calgary Royals, the Calgary Royals midget AAA team and playing with Team Alberta during the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was instrumental in leading Alberta to the bronze medal.
For the season 2012-13, Morrissey lead the Prince Albert defensemen with points by scoring 30 assists and 15 goals with a plus-minus of +14 as well as 91 minutes of penalty time. The Raiders ended the season with a winning performance for only the second time since the 2003-04.
On December 10, 2014, during the 2014–15 season, Morrissey was traded to the Kelowna Rockets. He would help lead the Rockets to the WHL championship as well as to the final of the 2015 Memorial Cup, which they lost to the Oshawa Generals.
