For the season 2017-18, Pokka was familiarly reassigned to the IceHogs. On the 13th of December the 13th of December, 2017 Pokka was called back by the Blackhawks but remained a fit scratch until returning to Rockford on the 18th of December. After scoring 22 points in 45 games Pokka became a trade target for the Blackhawks to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Chris DiDomenico on February 15 on the 15th of February, the 15th of February. Pokka was a part of in the Senators AHL affiliate known as the Belleville Senators, and continued to score offensive power from the blueline, scoring three scores and 11 goals across 23 games in the final game of the season.
As an impending restricted free agent with the Senators, Pokka opted to leave North America by agreeing to a one-year contract with his Russian KHL draft club, Avangard Omsk, on May 8, 2018.
On May 28th in 2014. Pokka had signed an entry-level three-year contract for the Islanders.

Pokka played alongside Karpat in the SM-Liiga throughout his 2010-11 campaign. He was picked 23rd by Avangard Omsk in the 2012 KHL Junior Draft and 34th overall by the New York Islanders in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
In the 2014-15 season on the 4th of October, 2014 Pokka was traded together as T. J. Brennan and Anders Nilsson by the Islanders to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Nick Leddy and Kent Simpson. He was later assigned directly to the Blackhawks American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate The Rockford IceHogs.
After three seasons with the organization (all of which were spent with the IceHogs), the Blackhawks re-signed Pokka to a one-year, $650,000 contract extension on June 27, 2017.
