Vereniki Goneva (born 5 April 1984 in Lautoka, Fiji) is an Fijian player of the sport of rugby. In July 2019, Harlequin F.C. announced that they have hired Goneva. He previously played as an attacking winger or centre with Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership.
Goneva was part of Goneva’s Fiji squad for 2011 IRB Pacific Nations Cup. After a great performance the team was then selected as the 22nd player to play for the All Blacks in Dunedin. He made his debut off his bench to score an impressive individual goal. He was then selected to face Tonga during the Punjas Rugby series. He was then picked into the Fiji team to participate in the 2011 Rugby World Cup and the team made its world cup debut as a right wing of Fiji in the match against Namibia. He scored four tries and also won his Man of the award in addition.
In May 2012, he signed a contract to join Aviva Premiership team Leicester Tigers. Goneva claimed that the only reason he chose to play for the Tigers was because their Rugby director, Richard Cockerill personally flew to France just to speak to him regarding him joining the club.
In the 2013–14 English Premiership; in his first game against Worcester Warriors, he scored a stunning individual try to give him team a bonus-point win, a week later, he started at his preferred position at 13 and scored another brilliant try against Bath but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers lost but Goneva’s try secured them a bonus-point loss. He started at outside centre again in their game against the Chiefs due to a long term injury to their incumbent centre, Manu Tuilagi, scoring a try late in the first half, his performance got him the Man of the Match award as well.
He was a player during his club ProD2 in the ProD2 for Tarbes between 2008 and 2011 . He was named the best centre in 2012 by the ProD2.

He was first noticed at first by Fiji sevens coach Waisale Serevi who was playing as a wing player for Nadi at the Digicel Cup competition and he was impressed with his performance and enrolled his name in the 2007-08 IRB Sevens World Series and He made his debut in the second leg, George Sevens where Fiji fell in the cup final against New Zealand. He was interested in power lifting, stating that it affected his powerful game style. The same year, he participated at the Colonial Cup for the Western Crusaders team, but was eliminated during the semi-finals against Coastal Stallions. He was included in the Fiji Barbarians team for the 2007 Pacific Rugby Cup though the team was not able to reach the semis. However, his outstanding performances continued. After making his debut in Fiji’s Fiji Sevens Team, he departed towards Rotherham Titans. After a brief time after which he returned and was a part of the sevens team. He also co-captained the team for their Wellington as well as the San Diego leg. Following the 2009 season he was a part of the Fiji 15’s team in this year’s IRB Pacific Nations Cup where He was instrumental in the victory against Samoa by playing off the bench and scoring the match-winning goal and also against Japan in which he scored the game-winning try for Number 8 Netani Talei. Later, he was offered which he accepted, to participate at the French Pro D2 competition for US Colomiers. He was part of the 30-member Fiji team to play in the 2009 Autumn Internationals
The player made his first appearance in English rugby with Rotherham with a win against Northampton Saints in the RFU Championship in 2007-2008. He was a player at Leicester Tigers from 2016, when he been awarded the Aviva Premiership title., before joining Newcastle Falcons
He scored a try on debut against London Welsh in the 2012–13 English Premiership. He scored a try as well as setting one up for his other winger in the 2012–13 English Premiership Final helping his team win the title. Even though he was injured for most of the season, he played 11 games for them and scored 5 tries.

In March 2016, Goneva signed a contract with Newcastle Falcons. He suffered an injury at the beginning of the season which ruled him out of the 2016–17 European Rugby Challenge Cup and most of the 2016–17 English Premiership season but he did end up playing 19 games for Falcons that season scoring 9 tries. He scored his 40th try overall in the premiership after he bagged a double against Bristol in their final pool match but were unable to progress to the quarter finals.
