Tarasova has been the coach to many world champions as well as Olympic winners than the other figure skating coach in history. Her athletes have won the total of 8 Olympic silver medals across the three Olympic figureskating disciplines along with 41 gold medals from the European and World championships.
Tatiana Tarasova is daughter of Anatoli, famous ice hockey coach who introduced her figure skating when she was just five years old. She spent over 10 years living in Simsbury, Connecticut before moving back to Russia in the year 2006. She is the wife of Vladimir Krainev, who died in April of 2011.
Tarasova was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1984). In March 2008 she was admitted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

Tarasova skated in pairs alongside Aleksandr Tikhomirov and Georgi Proskurin. With Proskurin she was twice Soviet Olympic medalist. They placed 7th at the 1965 World Championships and 4th at the 1966 European Championships. Aged 18, Tarasova sustained a career-ending injury.
In the mid-1980s Tarasova started her own company, the Russian All-Stars, an ice ballet. She was a coach for 10 years at Simsbury in the Connecticut’s International Skating Center before announcing her resignation from full-time coaching in 2006 and moving back to Russia in 2006.
