Moon published Word Felon in 1997. It was a collection of poems spanning 1992-1996 that he had been performing with. Felon’s poetic style was language deconstruction and broken rhymes. It was a result of his upbringing in 1980s New York City rap culture. Many of the poems dealt with dark depictions of underground culture, drugs and sex, as seen through the eyes of a lost boy. Moon’s mixed-media art experimentation, which combined art, poetry, and graphic design, was his next focus after Word Felon. Under the project title Phoetry (Moon’s inventing for Photo & Poetry), these works finally saw light in 2002.
Phoetry was published in conjunction with an exhibition of the same title. The book included poems as well as their visual interpretations in the form sketches, graphics designs, and photographs. From 2002 to 2003, the exhibition was held in Tel Aviv in two galleries. It featured blow-ups of visuals from the book. Phoetry found Moon maturer and more reconciled. The poems were colored by love, relationship, and a renewed affection for nature.
Song of the Wind, was released in 2008 and saw Moon’s songwriting as a direct progression from his poetry coupled with country life. The album was characterized by acoustic guitars and Moon’s soft, almost breaking voice, reminiscent of Neil Young. The album received favorable reviews, the magazine Americana UK compared his writing to that of Nick Drake and John Martyn.
