Tertius Kruger is one of the most popular and richest Rugby Union Player who was born on August 9, 1993 in Randfontein, Gauteng, South Africa. Tertius Kruger (born 9 August 1993 in Randfontein, South Africa) is a South African rugby union player for the Southern Kings in the Pro14. His primary position is centre.

He began the 2014 season by playing for the university side UFS Shimlas in the 2014 Varsity Cup. He was in the team for four times as a scorer with UJ in a win of 52-13 in which UFS Shimlas finished the competition in fifth position. He played in nine games in the Free State U21 in the 2014 Provincial Championship for Under-21s and scored attempts with Western Province U21 and in the two matches they played in the match against Leopards. His team came in fourth place in the standings to reach the semi-finals, in which they lost to Western Province.

He was included in the Free State Cheetahs senior squad for the first time for the 2015 Currie Cup Premier Division and was initially named on the bench for their Round Two match against Western Province, but subsequently replaced by loose-forward Tienie Burger. He was again named on the bench for their Round Four match against the same opposition, but failed to make an appearance. He eventually made his first class debut on 19 September 2015 as he played off the bench in the Free State Cheetahs’ 44–24 victory over Griquas. He made his first start a week later in their 31–73 defeat to the Golden Lions.

Kruger started seven of the UFS Shimlas’ matches during the 2015 Varsity Cup competition, helping Shimlas finish top of the log and qualify for a home semi-final. He featured in their semi-final match against two-time champions UCT Ikey Tigers where Shimlas secured a 21–10 victory to help them qualify for their first ever final. He also started the final against the NWU Pukke as Shimlas ran out comfortable 63–33 winners to win their first ever Varsity Cup title.

The year 2013 was the first time he took the transition to the Under-21 level and was able to play in 10 matches for his Free State U21 team’s matches during the 2013 Provincial Under-21 Championship. He scored two tries against the eventual winners Western Province U21 in an 18-16 victory in their first game of the season, and against Sharks U21 as his team again fell short on the semi-finals , finishing in the fifth position.

Kruger played provincial rugby from the time he was in primary school, and was a member of his team the SWD Eagles at the Under-13 Craven Week competition in 2006. Kruger was also chosen for his team SWD Eagles at Under-16 level participating in the Grant Khomo Week in 2009 as well as at the level of Under-18 participating in South Africa’s most prestigious university rugby union event known as the Craven Week, in 2011.

After graduating from high school, Kruger relocating from Bloemfontein in order to be a part of Bloemfontein to join the Free State Cheetahs. He played in seven matches in his Free State U19 team during the 2012 Provincial Championships for Under-19 and scored tries in their games against the Leopards U19 as well as The Golden Lions U19. Free State lost out on an opportunity to play in the semi-finals of the event, however, placing sixth.

He is the younger brother of number eight De Wet Kruger. The both played for the Free State Cheetahs in the 2015 Currie Cup; Tertius made his first class debut one week before De Wet and the two brothers featured in a match together when De Wet made his debut in their defeat to the Golden Lions.
