He is currently the co-manager for Ross County. He was an attacking midfielder for Queen’s Park, Clyde, Ross County and Brora Rangers.

Kettlewell was then signed by Highland League club Brora Rangers. 2 May 2015 was the day that Kettlewell scored the winning goal at a penalty shootout following a draw of 2-2 in which Brora beat Lowland League champions Edinburgh City in an promotion play-off. Brora also lost the promotion/relegation playoff against Montrose which been last in the 2014-15 Scottish League Two.

On the 11th of June 2009, Kettlewell was signed by Ross County. The first time he played was on August 8th 2009 with a 2-1 victory over Airdrie United. In May 2013 Kettlewell was signed to an extension to his contract with Ross County after the club was fifth in their inaugural campaign of the Scottish Premier League. Kettlewell underwent an operation to repair the hip injury shortly prior to the time his contract was due to expire at the close in the season 2013-14. Ross County allowed Kettlewell to remain at the club as the rehabilitation process was completed However, he was released in August of 2014.
