Scott Barney (born March 27 1979, in Oshawa, Ontario) is an ex- Canadian pro-ice hockey player that played for the National Hockey League with the Los Angeles Kings and Atlanta Thrashers. Barney is currently General Manager and Head Coach of the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL after he signed an extension of 3 years to his contract on March 31, 2019.
Barney was back with HPK during his 2011-12 campaign. He was briefly loaned out to EC Red Bull Salzburg for the non-regulation European Trophy, but returned to play for HPK. He quit HPK in the middle of the season to support other teams of the second tier HC Thurgau and Dornbirner EC of the Swiss National League B and Austrian National League, respectively.
On the 21st of November in 2010 he was a part of BK Mlada Boleslav from the Czech Extraliga. After playing just 13 games for Boleslav but, Barney went back to Finland on the 18th of January 2011, to conclude the 2010-11 season in HPK.

Barney was chosen in Los Angeles 29th overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Barney did not participate for the NHL until the 2002-03 season as the three seasons he was absent due to a serious back injury. Barney also was a player in Atlanta’s Atlanta Thrashers. Barney played 27 matches in the NHL and scored five goals while adding six assists, netting 11 points. Barney was assigned to the Hershey Bears in March 2007 from the Grand Rapids Griffins and was signed with Hershey Bears to play in the season 2007-08 on July 31st the 31st of July 2007. For 2008-09 , he relocating to Germany to play for the Augsburger Panther. In 2009-10 he started the season in SC Bietigheim-Bissingen, but was signed by Finnish team SaiPa in October. The team remained with him during the 2010-11 season.
Barney played the 2012–13 season in the Asian Ice Hockey League with South Korean team High1. On August 8, 2013 Barney signed with HC Valpellice of the Italian Elite.A. For the 2014-15 season, he signed with Austrian team EHC Lustenau of the Inter-National League, where he played for two seasons before ending his playing career.
