Samantha Linette Riley (born 13 November 1972) is an Australian breaststroke swimmer who is of Aboriginal origin who represented Australia during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona as well as the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta and Atlanta, winning three medals. She was trained by Scott Volkers at the Commercial Swimming Club in Brisbane.

Riley continued to dominate the competition in 1995, and then arrived in 1996 for the Summer Olympics in the midst of a doping scandal. Riley failed a doping test and was cleared after the coach Scott Volkers admitted to giving her a tablet for headaches that contained banned substances. Due to the stress of the controversy Riley was able to perform well in excess of her personal bests, which could have been enough to earn gold. She was awarded a bronze medal at the breaststroke 100m. She also won silver medals in the 4x100m relay along together with Nicole Stevenson, Susie O’Neill and Sarah Ryan.

The year 1994 saw Riley was the winner of both events in breaststroke during the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia, and repeated her achievement at the World Championships in Rome, Italy and set a new time record for the world at 1 minute and 07.69 seconds for the 100-meter event. This was the reason that led Swimming World magazine to name her the Female World Swimmer of the Year.
