In the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games, He took part at three different events. He was eighth in the final of the Men’s 100m Backstroke However, he didn’t advance into the finals for the Men’s 200m Freestyle S14 as well as Men’s 200m Individual Medley SM14.
He aims to represent Australia at the 2019 INAS Global Games in Brisbane.
He was chosen to participate in the INAS Global Games -a competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities in Ecuador where he was awarded the 100m Freestyle Gold medal with Silver at the 50m freestyle. In the 2014 Australian Swimming Championships he won gold in the 50m Freestyle Multi-Class final in the time of 25.25. He took bronze in both the 100m and 400m Freestyles and also Bronze for the 200m freestyle.

In 2013, Alford was awarded eight gold medals in his time playing with his NSW All Schools team at the Australian School Sports Championships, with five of these wins resulted in Australian Age multi-class records.
Alford began professional swimming in 2014, participating in the 2013 Australian Swimming Championships where he recorded personal bests in the 50m 100m, 200m, and 400m Freestyle events, and also in the 50m Backstroke – Alford went on to make the finals of the five events. Alford was selected to represent in the national team of Australia in the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he made an impressive debut in international competition and placed 6th at the S14 200m Freestyle final.
Alford performed well at the 2016 Australian Swimming Championships, placing 3rd in the Men’s 50m Freestyle Multi-Class; 2nd in the 100m Freestyle; and 3rd in the 200m Freestyle. Due to his strong performance at the meet, he was selected as part of Australia’s 30-man squad for the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
