Iona was awarded his first cap after sustaining a series of injuries during the Super Rugby season 2014. Iona’s debut did not go as planned. His first pass was intercepted, which led to a Waratahs try. Iona was still offered a one-year contract with Brumbies to be his full-time player for the 2015 Super Rugby season.
